Connect your Amazon S3 account

Note: If have installed WPTC plugin version 1.17.0 or above, please follow the instructions on this doc (Link) to connect WPTC plugin to your Amazon S3 account. 

This article teaches you how to connect your Amazon S3 account with WP Time Capsule.

  1. Log in to your Amazon Web Services console -
  2. After logging in, search for  S3 and click on the result as shown in the below image to open your Amazon S3 console.

  3. Click Create Bucket button to create a new bucket.

  4. Enter a Bucket name, select a Region and click Next

  5. Here click Create Bucket button. And your S3 bucket is created now. 

  6. Click on your username which you can find it on the top right corner of your page. Click on Security Credentials in the drop-down.

  7. If you have already set up IAM users, you can skip this step. If not, click on Get Started with IAM Users button in the dialog that appears.

  8. Click on the user whose access key you want to use. You can also create a new user by clicking on the blue Create New Users button.

  9. click on   Add Inline policy and select the custom policy 

  10. Now name the policy as WPTC and add the following JSON in the Policy Document. Then click on Validate policy and Apply Policy.

    Note: Make sure you replace "YOUR-BUCKET-NAME" with your bucket name in the above policy.

Please follow the instructions below to create Access Key for your S3 bucket.

  1. Open the Security Credentials tab. Then, click Create Access Key

  2. Then click Show to see the Secret Access Key

  3. Copy the Access Key ID and the Secret access key and paste it in WP Time Capsule settings page.
